What is HVAC/R?

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) is the technology of indoor and vehicular environmental comfort. Its goal is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality.

"Refrigeration" is sometimes added to the field's abbreviation, as in HVAC/R.

What is IoC?

The Internet of Comfort (IoC) enables HVAC systems to be controlled, serviced, optimized, and managed remotely. Making it easier to create the perfect climate control in smart inter-connected buildings and homes.

Using a smart thermostat with smart learning is a perfect example of IoC.

When should I call for service?

There are several items you can check yourself when your comfort system fails. Check these items to make sure you have a problem that needs our professional attention before calling our dispatch center.

  • Is the outside unit running?
  • Is the thermostat turned to “Cool” and set below room temperature?
  • Is the filter clean? (If the filter is dirty or obstructed, air flow is restricted and unit will freeze up.)
  • Is there ice on the refrigerant lines (freezing up)?  NOTE:  If your unit is frozen up, shut if off prior to calling so it will be thawed out when our Service Technician arrives.
  • Are the furnace doors on tightly?

  •      Is the thermostat properly set to “Heat” and set above the room temperature?
  •      Are the furnace doors on tightly?
  •      Is the circuit breaker set in the main panel?
  •      Is the filter clean?

When you have checked all of these items and your system is still not working properly, give our experienced service department a call, or use our website link and we will dispatch a skilled professional to get your system up and running right away!!

What is a Schrader valve and what are they used for?

A Schrader valve is the mechanism that is used by virtually every air filled tire that is used on bicycles or cars in the world today.  It is what allows the tire to be filled with air and then hold the pressure in the tire.  It is also what allows you to check the air pressure easily without deflating the tire completely.

Did you know that a special Schrader valve is also used in most Cooling and Heating systems?

These same valves are what allow your HVAC/R system to hold the coolant whether it be R22 freon or other types of refrigerant.

If this simple part is not working properly, you could easily have a leak or there could be other problems maintaining your system.  For example it is very difficult to check for the proper refrigerant pressure if this valve is broken.
